About
Schemer makes websites dark, calm and without fuss. One click on the icon and the site is dark; Schemer remembers it per site. The interface is in Dutch.
What you can do
- Fast: one filter over the page, no heavy recalculation. Gmail and large sites stay smooth.
- Photos, videos and background images stay real, not negatives.
- Recognises sites that are already dark and leaves them alone.
- Dimmer and contrast to taste, and Mono for everything in grays.
- Only when your system is dark: light by day, dark in the evening.
- On everywhere if you like, with exceptions per site. Shortcut: Alt+Shift+D.
Private by design
- Schemer only asks for access to a site when you turn it on there.
- No server, no account, no tracking. Your settings stay on your own computer.
- It does not read or send page content; it only looks at a page’s background colour to see whether it is already dark.
Permissions, and why
- activeTab
- Recognise the current site after your click or shortcut.
- scripting
- Apply the dark style on the sites you turned on.
- storage
- Keep your settings and your list of sites on this device.
- offscreen
- See whether Chrome is light or dark, so the toolbar icon fits.
- Optional: website access
- Asked per site when you turn Schemer on there. With “on everywhere” Schemer asks once for all sites.
