Privacy policy for Inner
Inner Work (Inner), a Chrome extension by Mono by Dusty. Last updated: 30 October 2026.
Short version: Inner does not collect, receive or sell your data. What you write stays in your browser, on your device. We have no server that receives it, and we cannot see it.
Who is responsible
Mono by Dusty, registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) under number 97328200.
Postal address: Amsterdam, the Netherlands (full address available via the Dutch Chamber of Commerce register).

What Inner stores, and where
- Your check-ins, thoughts, journal notes and conversations are stored in your browser’s own database (IndexedDB) on this device.
- Your settings are stored in Chrome’s local extension storage (
chrome.storage.local). - Nothing is synced to other devices or sent to us. Inner has no account, no cloud and no backend.
- Sample data, if you turn it on, is kept in a separate, clearly marked database.
Permissions Inner uses
- storage: to keep your settings on this device.
- search: to send what you type in Inner’s search field to the search engine you already chose in Chrome. That search is handled by your search engine under its own policy, exactly as if you searched from the address bar.
- favicon: to show the icons of the places you add, from Chrome’s own icon cache.
- Optional access to a website address (optional host permission): only requested if you choose to connect your own AI service (see below), and then only for that single address.
Inner cannot read your browsing history or the content of the pages you visit.
AI in conversations
Inner can guide a short conversation. Which guide is used depends on your device and your choices:
- On-device AI (default where available). Where your computer and Chrome support it, the guide is Gemini Nano, the language model built into Chrome. It runs on your device. What you write is processed there and is not sent to Mono by Dusty, to Google or to anyone else by Inner. Chrome downloads and manages the model itself; Inner only starts that download when you press the button in Settings.
- Scripted guide (fallback). On devices that can’t run the built-in model, a scripted guide that runs entirely on your device takes over. Nothing is sent anywhere.
- Your own AI service (optional, off by default). You can connect your own AI service (Anthropic, or a service compatible with the OpenAI API) with your own key. Only then, and only after you agree at the start of each conversation, is the text of that one conversation sent directly from your browser to the service you chose. Your past entries, check-ins and other conversations are never sent. That service handles the text under its own terms and privacy policy; Mono by Dusty does not receive it. Chrome first asks your permission for that one address. Your key is stored only on this device, separately from your entries, and is never included in exports.
No analytics, no tracking, no remote code
The extension contains no analytics, advertising or tracking code and loads no code from the internet. This website does not use cookies or analytics either.
Your control
In Settings you can export all your entries as a file, choose how long entries are kept, pause saving, and delete everything at once. Removing the extension removes its data from your browser. Because we never receive your data, we cannot see, correct or delete it for you; you are in full control on your own device.
Safety
Inner checks what you write, on your device, for signs that you may be in danger, and then shows contact details of helplines. Nothing about this is sent anywhere. Inner is not a medical or emergency service, not therapy and not a diagnosis.
Children
Inner is meant for adults and is not directed at children.
Chrome Web Store: Limited Use
Inner’s use of information complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Inner does not sell user data, does not use or transfer it for purposes unrelated to its single purpose, and does not use it to determine creditworthiness or for lending.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have rights over your personal data. Because Inner does not collect or receive any, there is normally nothing for us to give, correct or delete. If you contact us by email, we use your message only to reply and keep it no longer than needed. You can also complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
Changes
If this policy changes, the date above changes with it, and the extension’s behaviour will match it. Material changes (for example a paid AI option that runs through our own server) will be described here before they ship.
